"I have always loved choosing beautiful things for my home, one considered piece at a time. Art from South Africa, textiles from Asia, design from European designers - each piece chosen carefully, and kept for years. Fresh flowers were the one exception. Beautiful while they lasted, but then gone within days. Next to my sofa and a rug I had spent months deciding on, that started to feel out of place.

In the Netherlands, where I am from, beautifully crafted flowers are part of stylish living - as ordinary in a considered home as good lighting or the right rug. When I moved to Switzerland, I went looking for the same quality and could not find it. So I founded Silkhaus.

I studied Textile Technology before spending years in fashion, and that knowledge, and a sharp eye for detail and material, never left me. Every flower we sell passes through that same eye. I curate each one myself, by hand, before it is ever allowed near your home.

During my years publishing my own fashion magazine, I learned that the best stories inspire. That is the aim of Silkhaus too. We are here to inspire you to find the one piece that does for your home what the right coat does for an outfit: the first thing anyone sees, the thing that makes the whole look.”
