I have always loved choosing beautiful things for my home – piece by piece, with intention. Art, textiles, furniture, lighting: every element carefully selected, lived with consciously, and kept for years. That same design-led, curated eye shapes Silkhaus today.
Fresh flowers were the only exception. Beautiful while they lasted, but gone again after just a few days. I loved what they brought to a room – but not the constant cycle behind them: buying, wilting, throwing away, replacing. In a home built around timelessness and longevity, that began to feel less and less right.
In the Netherlands, where I am from, beautifully made artificial flowers have long been a natural part of stylish interiors. When I moved to Switzerland, I looked for that same level of quality – and could not find it. So I founded Silkhaus together with Sandro and Matthias. Today, we curate the best artificial flowers from leading European brands such as Silk-ka, Emerald and PURE – carefully selected for Swiss interiors.
I studied Textile Technology and later spent many years working in the fashion industry. I also built my own international fashion magazine. That experience, together with a trained eye for detail and materials, has never left me. Every artificial flower we sell is personally selected by me before it comes anywhere near your home. Every stem, branch and flower is judged on colour, material, shape, realism and presence. Our collection is deliberately curated rather than endless – only pieces that meet the Silkhaus standard make it into the collection.
Silkhaus exists to inspire you to find that one piece for your home that brings everything together and makes the entire space feel complete. To us, artificial flowers are not simply decoration, but floral interior objects – chosen with the same care as furniture, art or lighting.

Originally from Madeira, the flower island, and now surrounded by the Swiss mountains, Catia brings a natural sense of atmosphere, colour, and style to Silkhaus. She is responsible for production and content, shaping how our flowers are presented to the world. Catia knows how to see beauty, and how to translate it into our visual language.
