Creating your own bouquet is simpler than you think, and endlessly creative once you start. All you need are a few stems, an eye for balance, and the confidence to play. There are no strict rules; think in proportions, textures, and personality. Here’s a straightforward way to build a Silkhaus-style artificial flower bouquet:
Start with structure
Begin with greens, branches, or larger shapes. They give your bouquet its foundation. These are your fillers: they create stability, hold space, and define the outline.
Example
-
The Plum: Two blossom sprays already define the silhouette. The small, clustered flowers add texture and “fill” with just one or two stems.
-
The Citrus: The combination of allium (big, sculptural volume), dill, and delphinium builds generous body. Only three stems, yet the vase looks full.
Tip: Stick to the rule of thumb: 1/3 vase, 2/3 flowers – this creates a harmonious and balanced effect. Discover the blog with styling tips for your vase.
Add mood
Now comes the energy, the so called killers. These are your statement flowers; they set the color story and emotion. You can even start here if you’ve fallen for a single stem (a rose, a chrysanthemum) and want to build around it.
Example
-
The Plum: Two Ranunculus steal the show – high-quality artificial flowers with a “real touch” effect that immediately catch the eye.
-
The Moss: Here, the hydrangea acts as the focal point: calm, lush, and instantly atmospheric.
Bring movement
Once structure and mood are established, bring movement into play – stems that "dance." They add rhythm, lightness, height, and a touch of surprise to the bouquet.
Examples
-
A quiet hero: the wooden branch and moss twig. Perhaps boring at first glance, but they adds texture and depth to many bouquets (and are also stunning stand alone in a beautiful vase!).
-
The Citrus: Soft white cosmos and delicate greens reach up and out, giving the arrangement breath and life. A bouquet feels truly alive when every angle tells a slightly different story.

The secret: Edit with feeling
Step back. Look again. Sometimes adding or removing a single stem changes everything. There are no rules, only proportions and your personal style. Try it out, experiment, and discover how a tiny adjustment can shift the entire mood of a bouquet. Have fun with floral designing ;-)
